Hello

I joined up last night after stumbling upon the site.

I am only half way through reading LOtR atm, so I am a newbie even to the book and the characters! But I am completely in love I have to say. I read The Hobbit last winter just before the film was releaed, but I had a baby this year and have 2 other kids so getting through LOTR is proving to be an epic task but I find myself thinking about it all day long. The descriptions that Tolkien give are so simple but so vivid its breathtaking. I have just read the part where Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas meet the Riders of Rohan and I keep playing it over in my mind! I have watched the extended versin of TFOTR and thought it was stunning, I am both looking forward to and dreading seeing that part of TTT as I dont think the visual will do the description in the book justice.

Hello and welcome Lord_of_the_Rings and Kezabian! Sorry for the belated welcome, but I was out on a work related trip, so my fellow mods jumped in to say hi .

Lord_of_the_Rings, I suggest indeed that you read the site rules and forum decorum. Other than that, it's best to just browse the site and discover what we have to offer!

I hope you'll be able to enjoy the books thoroughly, Kezabian. Why not share the experience with the kids? There are many parents who read the Hobbit or even The Lord of the Rings to their children. That way you can enjoy the book as well as introduce them to a huge fantasy-world in which they can lose themselves.
Should you post something again accidentally, you can always use the 'edit' button to edit your own posts, rather than double post.
It's a dangerous business, going out your door...

Welcome Lord_of_the_Rings and Kezabian! Anything you should know? Well, we all seem to slightly crazy... which is quite fun! Go crazy!
If anyone had happened to look out of a window on the east side of the palace, they might have noticed two figures in the darkness, dancing in a square bordered by living plants, out of time with the dancers inside but perfectly in time with each other.

Hello everyone I have chosen the "act like the complete newbie that I am" path and ask what I need to know about this site (unstated rules, etiquette, etc.) thanks!
Life is short and we have to little time to gladden the hearts of those who walk the way with us. Oh be quick to love, make haste to be kind.

Hello Iliana casper welcome to CoE.
The Site Rules can be found on this link http://www.councilofelrond.com/forum-site-rules/
and the Forum Decorum can be found on this link http://www.councilofelrond.com/forum/thread/121/page/1/
other than that the only thing that I can suggest, is for you to explore the forums. There is a lot that you can do here including learning to speak Elvish

Hello and welcome Aerlinnel and Iliana_casper, glad to have you on board!
Those two pages are a good start to get to know the site (or at least the rules), but of course there's so much more to discover . So I suggest you also have a look at the 'Newbie Guide', another topped thread in the newbies forum. After that, it's time to discover the site and see which parts interest you most. I promise you you'll be looking for weeks to check out everything and discover every nook and cranny. It's packed with great Tolkien and Middle Earth stuff!

We are reading Shakespeare too... Well, mostly just reading the side notes in Romeo and Juliet... not the best idea... some I really could have lived without ever seeing.
