Hmm I'm afraid I'm out of ideas. It sounds like something's gotten messed up on your computer settings, somehow, unless you were working on changes/updates to your COE homepage under My Accounts/Change Homepage? Are you a 'donor' and working on creating your own Theme?

Though, as far as I'm aware, neither of those should affect the main menu not showing up.

CoE doesn't have any *plug-ins* that you'd be missing. I'm surprised the Alt or Ctrl while refreshing the page doesn't work. It always has for me when this happens.

What is wrong with the CoE Email? I tried signing up but there is an error that won't allow for new sign ups. Is this a glitch or something that has been going on for a while (I tried a few days ago, then again this morning). I would love to have an E-mail for this site, so that all my LotR material could be in one place.

Thanks.

My CoE email stopped receiving any emails about 2 weeks ago. I never messed with any of the settings on that email but I went back to double check and I have no block filters of any kind stopping me from getting mail. I first noticed emails weren't going through when my Facebook notifications weren't showing up; but I've gone to Facebook and all is working there. I started a free account elsewhere and emailing my CoE one, but the email hasn't shown up in my inbox (and it's been 5 days). The Help section of the email site offers absolutely no Troubleshooting options and to ask for help costs $25!!

I am quite sad at the loss of this email account, which has served as my primary email for years now. What better way to show off my LOTR love! I hope there is some kind of solution.

We recently moved to a new server -- I suspect that the necessary settings for CoE email got forgotten during the move. Give me a day or two, and I'll try to straighten it out.

When trying to post and view threads, I often get this error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/councilo/public_html/includes/blocks/online.php on line 67

It appears on the left under the main menu ehre the Random Block usually is. When it occurs, only the header, main menu, and the error appear, the rest of the page is blank.

You're not the only person to report this, but I have no idea why it might be happening! It's very strange. I'll keep looking into it.

EDIT: I've made a slight change to the code on that page. I'd appreciate it if anyone who receives this error or anything else like it could copy and paste it into this thread so I could continue to track it down (if the fix I made didn't fix it). Thanks!

Hi, I hope this is the right place to post this. I'm having trouble getting around CoE. I can't access the menu, the smilies don't work so I have to type the code, and there's a red 'X' in the upper left hand corner. I don't know if it's IE7 that has a problem or my new antivirus software somehow blocking stuff. Any help would be greatly appriciated

Hi,

You might try logging off COE, and then deleting your cookies and temporary internet files. Then reboot your computer and then log in again and see if that helps.

If you have any problems getting logged back in to COE, just email me at accounts@councilofelrond.com (make sure you've added that address to your contacts/safe list).

It didn't work. Nothing changed. I'm wondering if it's the antivirus.

If the site was working before you installed the antivirus software, and now it suddenly is not, then yes, in all likelihood, the problem is the antivirus software. You'll have to play with the settings and make sure you're giving the appropriate permissions to this URL in the settings.

The E-mail still won't work. I want to sign up, but it won't accept my password. Is it my computer, or do I have to give it my original password?

Do you mean the CoE email? Have you actually signed up yet? You have to click the register link on the email page to sign up (outside of this site) first.

Hi, I'm sure this is just something I haven't done quite right... but I just changed to 'The Vision' theme and its working well (forum view is fine etc) except I can't see any of my PMs they are coming up black text on black background (of course by merely highlighting it I can see the message) ... I went into profile via the forum to see if I hadn't updated the 'forum theme' (yes I did note the lovely warning on that) themes properly and I'm still not sure if I've done that right (or even if that was the right place to be looking) -its still set to default but there was no option that looked any closer to the title of my current theme.

It's not a big problem and I'm sure its a really silly question - but if someone can help that'd be great.

This must be a user created theme? You'll need to contact the creator of the theme and explain the situation to them, and see if they can fix it. In the meantime, I would recommend switching to a different theme.

Elvishmusician just PM'd me (I'm the one who made The Vision theme) but I'm a little puzzled. I'm using that theme currently and have never had any trouble with it. Everyone in my Realm also tried it for awhile and none had any problems. How do I figure out how to make it work for everyone?

Here's a screencap of a PM in your theme, Timp. After talking to you, I'll guess it's a monitor setting problem, since you can see them quite clearly, I get a dark font on a dark background, and EM gets black on black. The only thing I can suggest is to make the font a bit lighter.

I posted this in the member website help, but then i thought it probably belongs here. I have tried to add a new page to my site ten times now and keep getting this error
“You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'repeat, bodyfont, border, banner, weakscroll, strongscroll) VALUES ('Wizards_Pup' at line 1”
this makes no sense to me, what do I need to do? I really love the member sites and thanks for any and all help!

I think this has probably been the case for a while but I never noticed it before (probably cause I always try and send ecards the day I want them delivered).

The format for the date sending them is MM/DD/YYYY - as when you look at the list to choose from its fairly logical but the card itself says just underneath the option of choosing what day to send it
Choose current day, the date format is DD/MM/YYYY, to send your postcard now.
which is backwards with the day and month. Its not a big problem or that but if it could be fixed easily it might be worth tweaking. I hope I spotted that right - apologies if my blonde hair is playing tricks on me again:blush:

I'd like to mention that I haven't been able to get on for the last two days. I would get a white page with some text. I don't know if there was a problem with the site or if my internet had a bug.

You are asking this same question everywhere you post, you've been answered everywhere you've posted. Go back and look at other places you've asked this same question and find your answer.

I found something that looks kind of odd.

Is it normal for post counts to disappear? I've made probably between 400-600 posts here, but there has been large time gaps between them. It's been a couple of years since I last posted and I found that it's currently saying I've only made 16 posts.

I'm not certain whether this is normal or some sort of a glitch. Help?

Is the chat room gone?

I've tried getting in several times and it keeps telling me that the room is dead. So is there no more chat?

I imagine it changes to that when no one has gone in for a while. I just reset it. Chat doesn't get used much anymore

I've recently noticed that when I click on page 23 or something like that on a topic it won't load the posts and I have to go back and just start at the beginning of the topic.
It's not a huge deal but it's annoying when there are 200+ posts in a topic and I have to keep clicking the last number to get to the most recent post.

Have you tried clicking on the double arrows (>>)? That usually takes one to the very last page of a thread.

Oh. I haven't tried clicking the arrows yet. Didn't realise that's what it was for. I'll try that next time it doesn't load. See what happens.

Hi people.
I don't know if this is just happening to me or to anyone else too. And sorry if this has been posted before.

Everytime I try to log on through the text input form at the bottom of the thread here in the forum section I keep getting this message on a blank page: "Sorry, you can't access this file directly..." So I get to run back to the Join in links to get me a successful sign in from there. I can't remember this happening before. Only just recently so thought I might post about it.
