Same thing is happening to me, Sidhien. I might be roaming around checking things out but not logged on. Then I read something in some thread or another and try to log in at the bottom of the page.

I get the same "sorry, you can't access this file directly" and have to go to the home page to sign in.

Anyone else with this problem? And Rivka, can it be fixed?

I logged out and logged back in, using the log in at the bottom of the page. Worked ok.

I logged out and tried to log back in from the box at the bottom of the page and it didn't work for me either, Sidhien. I got the same error message.

I'm using Microsoft IE in case that has any bearing on the case, Rivka.

Don't know whether it was your gentle hand on the button or not, Rivka, but it's now working for me. I can log on on any page. Thanks.

I think it might depend on from where you're logging in. I can log in from the Main Forum and from a Sub-Forum but not at the bottom of a thread. I tried those three this morning.

Me too. It's ok on the Forums main page, in the Forums themselves and the sub-forums, but from a thread it throws up the 'sorry' message.

Not sure if it's not working or someone deleted all the older threads in the Games Forum. I can't see the pages' links down below. The pages' links seem to be present on the other sub-forums. Even changed my theme to see if that affected it. But the page links still only missing from the Games Forum for me. :dizzy:

I use the "Misty Mountains" theme, and really like it, but all of a sudden the forums are showing up as a very dark grey (instead of the light blue-grey they were before). I'd rather not change the theme if possible, but it's hard to read posts now. What happened?

Sounds like you need to set your forum theme -- that's separate from your site them. Click on "Profile" up at the top (when within the forum), and set your forum theme to MistyMountains (or whatever ever theme you like. The "default" theme often works well with all site themes).

I'm having trouble sending and receiving e-cards with music. I use Firefox, and it crashes when I try to preview one, or open one sent to me. I even tried it in Firefox's "safe mode" and it still crashed. It works just fine without the music, though. I tried using IE and have no trouble at all. So, I guess it's a Firefox issue....?

When I updated my laptop system, the chatbar disappeared for me on it, although I had changed no CoE account-settings. (I can still see the bar on my desktop.)

Apparently my laptop's Android system is by browsers believed to be a cellphone of some sort, so it's showing me "mobile phone versions" of several sites. I think this is what happened with CoE, as well. Any tips how to change it back, or means to change it back to a computer layout?

I completly forgot about this thread. It's not working for me either. I thought it was my computer at first because the pictures in the banner at the top (where it says The Council of Elrond) has a big red X next to it that's always been there.

Just to let everyone know, the new COE server is having problems sending to YAHOO email addresses.

This means:
- that new users registering with a yahoo account will not receive their confirmation email
- registered users with a yahoo account will not receive a reply if you use the 'lost password' function
- registered users who have flagged their accounts for email notifications to a yahoo account will not receive the notifications

If you are registered with a YAHOO email address, please edit your profile to change it to hotmail, aol, gmail, etc.

If you are a visitor to our website and wish to register, please do NOT use a yahoo account.

It would appear that we are having problems with other domains as well...so we're going to be moving to a different server host sometime in the next week. We may have some downtime, but hopefully it will be limited.

Didn't know if this was where to ask this, but, did we get rid of the Ecards? Someone in my realm had a birthday and I went to find a card and couldn't... I haven't been here in a while, so am I just losing my mind and can't find them?

There is a glitch that started a week after i joined CoE and it is getting rather annoying. A few months ago I was reading something in the fanfiction and i went to the next chapter and it took me to a completely different story. I tried to see if it was just for that story but it was for everyone of them that had more than one chapter. This morning it corrected itself and for the first time i was able to read something with more than one chapter but when i got to the third chapter it did it again.
This isnt just in fanfiction it is with other parts of the site too.
There's a lot of truth in fiction. Be you- everybody else is taken

I think I have found the source of the fanfiction glitches- if a fanfiction chapter title that is used for many fanfictions and you click it it will take you to the first ever fanfiction that used that chapter name.
Just guessing though and it seemed to fit when I tested it.

My issue concerns private chats. I type an answer, hit enter or the blue bubble and what I have said does not come up. Sometimes it takes a long time, however, lately, my replies do not come up at all. It is like I am gone completely. I can re-enter what I have typed several times and stil, nothing. What could be the problem?

I have had that problem before, where it does not show what I typed, however, once I retype it in and enter it again it always shows.

I would say just make sure you don't add an extra space or something, that seems to me what throws it off...

Well, for one thing, if you hold the 'shift' key and press enter, it will not show up. Another thing is it could be your internet browser. If you are using Internet Explorer for instance, switch to Mozilla Firefox, as everything in general works better with it. Or Google Chrome, if you like something more sleek.
