I’m sorry to say, but it really really didn’t like Haldir. It might be the actor, but I also thought he was far too haughty. In the book, you get the impression of a loyal and stern guard who is trying to protect his people against a real threat, but in the movie he seemed to just want to show off a little.
Maybe it would have been better if he re-appeared at the end, with the giving of the gifts, because that sort of restores him.
Though of course, Tolkien did make his Elves [i]arrogant[/i]… 😀

There was an interview with the actor, Craig Parker, about his character. And when asked about the arrogance of Haldir, he said he was told to make him a bit arrogant. He also noted that he thought this Haldir was more arrogant than the Haldir from the books.
