  • New Ian McKellen E-Post

    Ian McKellen’s website has updated with a new e-post, in which the actor answers questions about his experiences filming The Lord of the Rings and the cast’s Elvish tattoos, amongst other things.

  • Happy Birthday Billy!

    Billy Boyd (Pippin) was born in Glasgow, Scotland on 28 August 1968 and is 36 years old today. You can read about Billy in CoE’s cast list here. In the CoE gallery there are pictures of Billy here and of Billy in the role of Pippin here. Many Happy Returns Billy!

    Yesterday, August 20th, was conceptual designer and Tolkien illustrator Alan Lee’s birthday, and today, August 21st, is the birthday of fellow artist and conceptual designer John Howe. Alan was born on August 20th, 1947 in London, England and John was born on August 21st, 1957 in Vancouver, Canada. That makes them 57 and 47 respectively.…

  • Happy birthday John Noble

    John Noble was born on 20th August 1948 in Port Pirie, Australia and is 56 today. You can see some pictures in CoE’s gallery of John in the role of Denethor here. Happy birthday John!

  • Lord of the law suits

    Reuters.com report that Saul Zaentz has sued New Line Cinema. Saul Zaentz, who purchased the rights to JRR Tolkien’s works in the 1970’s, claims that New Line owe him over $20 million in unpaid royalties from the LotR movies.

  • Lord of the Rings– the musical

    According to this article at playbill.com the Lord of the Rings musical is, “progressing towards an opening night in October 2005”. However, the production has yet to be cast and there are no details on where, in London’s West End, the musical will be staged.
