    Author and map-maker Karen Wynn Fonstad died on the 11th March 2005. While best known to us as the author and map-maker for “The Atlas of Middle-earth”, Karen was also a freelance map-maker and a part-time lecturer at the University of Wisconsin.     On 27th February Richard Taylor and Tania Rodger of Weta Workshop gave a presentation at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia.   • Ian McKellen – official site update

    The Lord of the Rings E-Post section of Ian McKellen’s official site has been updated. The questions he answers include whether he suffered from “separation anxiety after wrapping the films” and he talks a little about a scene between Gandalf and Legolas that was cut from The Fellowship of the Ring.

    Eonline.com report that Peter Jackson’s production company, Wingnut Films, has filed a lawsuit against New Line Cinema, the distributors of the LotR movies. The claim relates to profits from The Fellowship of the Ring.
