    On Tuesday January 11th Michael Drout, Tolkien scholar and associate professor of English at Wheaton College will give a talk entitled, “Understanding J.R.R. Tolkien and the Lord of the Rings”.   • Tolkien course – Richmond, UK

    A course at Richmond Adult Community College, UK, entitled Tolkien in the 21st Century is aimed at, “Tolkien buffs interested in discussing and analysing the major literary themes in Tolkien’s major works, in print and film”.     On 27th, 28th and 29th May 2005 the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra will perform the Washington area premiere of Howard Shore’s Lord of the Rings symphony.   • The Lord of the Rings symphony in Des Moines

    On 14th and 15th May the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra will be performing the Lord of the Rings symphony by Howard Shore. The performances will be conducted by Howard Shore and will feature the Iowa Youth Chorus, Westminster Presbyterian Church Choir and the Des Moines Gay Men’s Chorus. There are further details here.
