JRR Tolkien made an appearance in the BBC’s ‘Great Britons’ poll last night.

At the GQ Men of the Year awards held on October 16, 2002, Ian McKellen was presented with the award for Supporting Film Actor of the Year.

For his work on the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, The World Soundtrack Awards have nominated Howard Shore for two awards: Soundtrack Composer of the Year and Best Original Soundtrack of the Year – Orchestral.

At the 18th Annual Technical Excellence and Creativity Awards, Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring was presented with the award for Film Sound Production. Other nominees included Black Hawk Down, Moulin Rouge, and Pearl Harbor.

Ananova tells us that the organizers of the Bafta awards have switched the dates again, to keep it from being overshadowed by the Oscars– February 8, 2004.
