Dan Hennah was born in Hastings, New Zealand and as a young man, studied architecture at the Wellington Polytechnic School of Architecture, as did his future wife. His first position in the Film Industry was as a Production Assistant on the film ‘Prisoner’.
Prior to working on The Lord of the Rings, Dan already had a long term friendship with Peter Jackson having worked as Art Director on ‘The Frighteners’, where PJ was the Director. He has worked on a variety of films in the role of Art Director, Assistant Art Director and Supervising Art Director. Included in his repertoire are Production Designer on ‘Mesmerized’ and as a ‘dressing prop’ on ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’ together with many in the same positions for television.
Dan is married to Chris Hennah, who also worked on Lord of the Rings in the Art Department.
