New Zealand Oscar celebrations
The NZHerald reports that Wellington will celebrate Peter Jackson and his team’s Oscar successes on Thursday, 18th March with a 45 minute celebration (PJ requested a low-key celebration). Peter Jackson and Richard Taylor (special effects head) are due to speak and other Oscar winners may attend.

Nickelodeon Kids Choice awards

Tolkien conference
On 22nd – 23rd October 2004, Marquette University’s Department of Special Collections is hosting a conference on “The Lord of the Rings, 1954-2004”. The Haggerty Museum of Art is also planning an exhibition of sketches and drawings by JRR Tolkien. There are further details of the University’s Tolkien collection and the conference at Marquette.
