    A course at Richmond Adult Community College, UK, entitled Tolkien in the 21st Century is aimed at, “Tolkien buffs interested in discussing and analysing the major literary themes in Tolkien’s major works, in print and film”.   • LotR trading card game – 2005 releases

    Decipher.com has announced their 2005 release schedule for the LotR trading card game. Black Rider is due for release in March, Bloodlines in July, War of the Ring Anthology in August and The Hunters in November.

  • Diagnosing Gollum

    Medical students at University College London, were set the task of explaining Gollum’s behaviour. A paper published in the British Medical Journal reveals that their diagnosis was that Gollum, “fulfils seven of the nine criteria for schizoid personality disorder”.   • Tolkien letter sells for £1176

    A letter written by JRR Tolkien in 1971 was sold today at auction in Swindon, UK, for £1176 ($2,284.80). In the letter to Miss Morley, who had written to him asking for work, Tolkien writes about the negative side of being a celebrity. You can read the full story at Scotsman.com.
