New Zealand partying already
According to Reuters, the people in New Zealand are already celebrating RotK’s Oscar nominations before the winners are announced tonight; they are also celebrating other Kiwi films, ‘The Last Samurai’ and ‘Whale Rider’ which together gained five nominations.

‘Rings’ hot favourite for Oscars!
According to a recent poll at ABC News, RotK is favourite to win the Best Picture Award at this year’s Oscars, gaining 42% of the vote. The next highest film in the poll was Seabiscuit, with 16%.

King beats Potter!
Return of the King has overtaken Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s (or Sorcerer’s) Stone to become the second highest grossing film of all time after Titanic, having raked in $975.7m, according to BBC News. However, according to Box Office Mojo, RotK is $0.1m behind Potter.
