I totally agree with Christopher Tolkien about the musical. However, I was a bit surprised to read his comment about the film. I guess I had always assumed he was “d’accord” with what PJ has done, since I had never heard anything to the contrary …
such strong reactions- its all a bit of fun. man if they can make the bible into a musical then you would think that tolkiens family would lighten up and allow lotr to be a musical. sheesh.
Maybe one of the reasons he’s so unhappy about the success because that means that there will be more people harassing him…
IMDb says “Literally hiding in France in retort to obsessive and extreme fans of the his father’s works.” and “…Christopher keeps a wild boar in his garden, which deters unwanted visitors.”
I honestly can’t picture the musical being good, but it’s not something wothy of such a serious reaction, and certainly the movie has done much to bring a new generation to the knowledge of Tolkien and his master pieces…I think perhaps Christopher and company needs to take it down a notch, switch to decalf, or try deep breathing.

I wouldn’t be too happy about it either. It sounds really stupid. Sure, the movies are fine, but a musical? *snort* Really. . .
I guess good ol’ Christopher doesn’t consider reading “popular entertainment”…
I find the entire family’s reaction to be on the pompous side.

It just sounds kinda dumb…
