Look for the first release of FOTR on VHS and DVD August 6, 2002. This is the theatrical version (as seen in theatres) rated pg-13. The DVD will contain 2 discs and an additional 2 hours of material including ten minutes of The Two Towers.
Then on November 15, 2002 the “Director’s Cut” or extended version will be released on DVD. It will be comprised of 4 discs with an additional 6 hours of material including behind the scenes footage. Possibly to be given an R rating.
