  1. Dear me, somebody over at the Torygraph likes RotK… ad goes totally over the top. Yes, a great film – but to compare it with the Sistine Chapel, or Beethoven’s Ninth? That is quite ridiculous. If anything, Tolkien’s entire trilogy might be compared with these monumental achievements, but sorry PJ, not the third film. And when the author leaves out Sean Astin when quoting Oscar-worthy performances, he thoroughly disqualifies himself.

(Don’t thwack me, I love the film. But the first two were better, and movie RotK is not Hamlet.)

  2. Wow. I guess that guy feels strongly about the actors not getting Oscar nominations. And I agree, yes, they should’ve. Those were the best acting performances that I have ever seen, and to see them acting for one of my all time favorite books…That was just priceless. When I watched that movie, it took me into another world, into Middle-Earth. I felt like I was there, and if Frodo or Sam were upset, I just wanted to hug them. They were amazing actors, and they deserve some award.

But hey, they didn’t so there’s nothing we can do about it. And in the end, the author of that piece sounded a bit like Viggo in one of his own interviews. That “Who remembers the Oscars?” And it’s true. Years and years from now, no one will remember who won what Oscars and many of them probably won’t even care. But a wonderful movie such as Return of the King, that will be talked about and admired. That is what people will care about. And I agree….These actors are immortal for The Lord of the Rings stories will never die.

  3. Is getting a Oscar important to an Actors career? Most defiantly. But the Actors from ROTK are greater then Oscar winners. They will be remembered for years to come. This years Actor winners maybe remembered 2 years from now….maybe?????? The ROTK Actors will be remembered forever and ever and ever and ever and ever………………………. What more can I say!!!!

  4. the stars of LotR don’t deserve Oscars…they desever sooooo much more. they all spent years way from there family and freinds and every thing they were used to to bring the trilogy to life. they may not get nominated for an oscar but for me they will always be the winners of the IAA …. immortal actors award. They did such a fabulous job with what they were given to work with. the people who got nominatted this year might be remembered for a while but the movies they were in will fade in to history bringing them along. but LotR will never fade. the story is to strong and wonderful and if the story never fades neither will that actors who were in them.

(i now i can’t spell but i love LotR and that’s all that matters right?)
