How did you find CoE and why did you decide to join?
I found CoE while I was looking for LotR e-cards. I have a friend who is, believe it or not, even more obsessed with LotR than I am, and for her birthday I wanted to send her a Frodo card. After I did, CoE largely fell out of my memory until I was excited for pictures, and remembered the exquisite galleries I’d seen here. Next thing I know, I’m registered and prowling around. It’s such a great site, with a wonderful sense of community. Odd thing for an ex-lurker to say, I know, but I liked seeing it here and feeling like I was a part of something close-knit, even if I myself wasn’t really contributing.
What does your username mean?
Hehe, my username. I’m quite the Star Trek geek, and imzadi comes from the relationship between two of the principal characters on Star Trek: The Next Generation. It’s an alien word that essentially means “soul mate”. Roses are among my favorite flowers and “rose” seems to flow very well with imzadi…as well as fulfilling my desire of having a unique screenname that doesn’t have a single number in it.
Why did you decide to become an admin?
I decided to become an admin for many reasons. The position spoke to me in a lot of ways. It sounded fun, challenging. I’ve always been an avid reader and it seemed like a good way to read some of the best Tolkien fanfiction on the Internet. Lastly, when I finally get out of college and providing I can’t hack it as a writer, I plan to be an editor. Being the Fan Creations admin is a really fun and enjoyable way to let loose with my wild editing skills.
Who is your favorite LotR or other Tolkien character?
My favorite Tolkien character is most definitely Éowyn. I really admire her, and identify with her in a lot of ways. I can definitely understand having to sit back and watch bad things happen without being able to really do much about them…but then again, I think almost everyone can identify with that at some point in their lives. I just feel closest to Éowyn in terms of my personal struggles and hers.
What’s your favorite scene in the books?
My favorite scene in the books is, hands down, the Houses of Healing. I’m a huge Éowyn/Faramir shipper, and that scene just makes me want to swoon and sigh happily. It’s an entire love story laid out, all nice and pretty, with the ending left up to the imagination. I’m a hopeless romantic, and when I read it I’m in heaven.
What’s your favorite scene in the movies?
My favorite scene in the movies is actually Dunharrow. The Rohirrim fascinate me to no end. I love seeing them, the way they interact with each other, and I love seeing Éowyn interact with Éomer, Aragorn, and Théoden.
What’s your favorite snack?
My favorite snack is most definitely saltine crackers. I can eat an entire sleeve when I’m involved with a really good book and then get rather irritated with myself for eating so much!
What’s your favorite kind of fanfiction?
My favorite kind of fanfiction is really hard to nail down. I like to feel that I’m being taken somewhere, and I like to be left thinking about what I’ve read at the end of it. I like to feel for the characters and think of them as people I know. Above all things I like to feel utterly connected to the world I’m being shown. That’s not really a type, but those are my favorite kinds of stories.
What do you do in your free time when not online?
When I’m not online, I’m usually writing. I’ve adored writing from a really early age, and I don’t think I’ve ever really stopped. I write all kinds of stuff, from fiction to nonfiction to fanfiction to poetry. When I’m not writing, I’m probably indulging in my fixation with Disney movies or reading, or, if I’m tired of being a hermit, off doing something silly with my friends.
