  1. Personally, I think that it is a great idea.
For my birthday party, my grandma made a pretty big Ent. and then seeral smaller Ents all from wood and other materals. I walked in to my party and I was like ” wow.”
I think that there should be an ent in my town.

  2. An ent statue??? That is SO COOL! Considering all the environmental damage that’s being done to the Earth…it’s a nice way to show a community cares about the planet.
    I love Ents! : )

  3. Hi,
I’m Dave, the guy behind the proposed statue of treebeard to be built in Moseley, where JRR grew up as a child and said he got much of his inspiration from.
Don’t believe everything you read in the papers. There is a huge wow factor going on about this proposal. The opposition is a tiny but vocal minority – about 15 people. In 2 surveys just done, 95% of people and all the local businesses except one are in favour of this 20-25 ft ent. It’ll be made of metal, with two hobbits on it – not merry and pippin but JRR and his brother Hilary, climbing it and getting their imaginations going!!
Look at http://www.moseleystatue.org and you’ll see more – including how to be linked forever with a Tolkien Statue by having your name engraved on a leaf. Cheers.
