haha, that’s true (I can’t even imagine what I’d do with 10 million dollars) but I think he has a right to get what he was entitled to. And maybe PJ will distribute the money from the lawsuit to the cast and crew.
I’m not surprised. It reminds me of G. Lucas’ case: You start out with little money and make three great movies……next thing ya’ know, you’ve got so much money that you feel like you need more. Of course, I’m not saying that Peter Jackson will start making down-hill films (like G. Lucas). King Kong, The Hobbit, and future films of his will…no doubt…be superb. 🙂
Well for a start, I’m pretty indifferent to the whole thing; but we know very little about this, so I do not think it is fair to be making assumptions. By the look of things, it is the whole production company Wingnut Films that is filing the lawsuit, not Peter individually, so perhaps the money is not solely for Peter, but for a number of crew members. And hey, even if it was just for Peter, I couldn’t really care less; New Line is hardly strapped for cash, is it?
I think that even though Peter Jackson is already showered with money, that if I were in this situation then I would be upset, too. If you think about it, if you had made these movies and someone took part of your pay, then you would probably want all of your earnings from your hard work….that’s what I’d do…..
I agree with babeofOrli. It seems to me that it’s more matter of principle than about money itself. I would most definitely not let someone earn more and more on my hard work and years and love invested in something.
Honestly its not about whether of not he needs the money, I think we can all safely assume that he doesn’t, its about New Line not screwing him over on what is his. I don’t think he is being greedy at all he is just trying to get what he already earned. Good Luck PJ!
I think that, while New Line may or may not have cheated him out of money, its over and done with. If he feels the need to have millions more dollars, he is a hardworking man and Im sure he will figure out a way to earn the money. If in all reality he is trying to help New Line fro mmaking the same mistake, he should go to them quietly. By suing them, he is just permanently severing ties, which isnt helpful to him or them.
