  1. Didn’t do too bad despite the fact that it as not even close to what was in the book. Some people were disgruntled because of the Dwarf Love Affair. Serious students of the HoME books already know the development of Beren. But just in case you forgot, Beren’s character development included a Dwarf, an Elf and a Human. Maybe Peter thought it was fun, to draw on the development. But I agree that he should not make a relationship between a Dwarf and an Elf. And Lanyare, you are right about it taking away of the special relationship between Gimli and Legolas. When I think of the Wizards, I don’t just think Wizard, I think Maia. Those were the Helpers and Companions of the Valar. To make them look ditzy and weird is not right. They should have been, if not majestic, at least authoritative, somebody who you can respect., not a weird little guy who looks like he is not playing with a full deck of cards
