  1. It’s a nice interview, but um… “two-dimensional”? I wouldn’t call the Hobbit exactly that, especially when it’s connected to the other books.

If she means that it’s not often split up in several views at once in the way of LotR, yeah, I understand that. But Jackson is working on the connection to the other books to describe the events more like LotR, that I’m sure of.

  2. I still think the Hobbit could be made a good movie without the additions of extra characters. I just don’t think it’s necessary to have a very un-Tolkien like female elf who practices archery and swordsmanship in the movies. I think someone also mentioned this before, but her helping Bilbo and the dwarves takes away credit to Bilbo for managing to do everything on his own with no one to guide him.

  3. Friends, hobbit-fanciers, Tolkienites, lend me your ears. When the movie comes out, we can all gripe about all the things that went wrong, but until then…have a little faith.

  4. Nobody ever made a Movie from a book without some editorial changes. I’m sure that PJ wants these films to be seen by more than just a few purists so I expect some changes, especially as there were no females whatsoever in the book.
Also there;s lots of room for extra characters for the scenes covering the years between The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings.
Everybody that is worried about new characters needs to give Jackson a chance to prove his ability to use these new characters to enhance the films.
