  1. Absolutely Not!!!!! I know I am biased because I want only Peter Jackson to direct The Hobbit, but honestly, take a look at the Spiderman movies! Bad story and bad CG.

  2. If he directs, I won’t be able to think of this movie as a ‘part’ of what was done by Peter Jackson… it’ll feel like a cheap rip-off attempt at a prequal. Sorry, but I won’t be paying to see it ><

  3. Sam Raimi is a friend of Peter Jackson. It can’t be too hopeless, I suppose.

And while I do want Jackson, and only Jackson to direct these films, I honestly don’t know if it’s going to happen.

You’ll never know, Raimi may surprise us. (And just to point out, Raimi said he would like to direct the Hobbit. He didn’t say he will do it.)

  4. Okay, you all are probably gonna conk me on the head for this, but… I am cautiously optomistic.

I mean, it would be best if PJ does it, no doubt about that, but I can think of a LOT worse people than Raimi for the job. I admit, to my knowledge, I’ve never seen any other of his movies besides Spiderman 1 and 2, but I enjoyed those movies. Admittedly the CG could have been better in #1, but still, I hope you all understand my point. Raimi has shown good directing skills in those movies, in my opinion.

Now, I *will* get mad if Weta is not involved (which I’m not sure they will be without Jackson… eek). They *invisioned* M-E, its landsacpes, creatues, its cultural icons, in a sense. We won’t be looking at the same world without them. And of course Howard Shore is a must.

So basically, if we’re talking about *only* a director change, I’m willing to give it a try.

  5. That is just wrong! We should write up a petition to stop this madness! If the movie is made though we should boycott it and no one should go see it!!

  6. Here we go again. We all just have to wait for the rights to go back to their rightful place and then wait for the news that PJ will be the director. I am going to keep positive thoughts for PJ and Company to be a part of The Hobbit magic and read the new book The Children of Hurin and just keep my mind in Middle-earth and all things positive. New Line screwed up and I will not see their movie. PJ and his past discussions about story interweaving to bring TH and LOTR together makes more logical sense and we all know that to be true. Hope time gives us the answer we all want to read about.
PJ and the making of TH in production!

  7. I wouldn’t mind a Raimi version of The Hobbit (though I would prefer a Jackson version); but with Raimi working on The Hobbit, there likely won’t be a Spider-Man 4 (or one with Tobey McGuire, at least). 🙁
