Inspired by this article about an exercise challenge to walk one’s way from Bag End to Rivendell, the Council of Elrond Fellowship of the Wanderers was founded about a year ago, in March 2005, with Eressëa as the coordinator and contact person for the group. The idea took off quite well, and the group also registered on the Éowyn Challenge website.
During this last year, the Fellowship has gained altogether 26 members, at least one of whom has already reached Rivendell and continued toward Lothlórien, and the newest have just recently started their journey. Everybody is advancing at their own pace, there’s no competition, but the atmosphere has remained very supportive. There was a little setback at the end of last year, when the Challenge website lost its page for recording our mileage, and everybody had to re-register and re-enter their mileage so far on the new page; but, on the other hand, all inactive walkers dropped out with this change.
