Administrator of the Month: an interview with Morwinyoniel

1. So, you have been chosen by the wizards to answer their own particular brand of questions this month. Does this make you proud? Why do you think the wizards have chosen you?
Well, I guess that I’ve been hanging around for so long that I already belong in the furniture… And, if that’s something to get proud about, then I am proud.

2. Let’s start with something easy. A simple choice. Which do you prefer and why?
– Middle-earth or our world?
Ouch, that’s difficult. If only I could have the best of both worlds… But, on a day like this when it feels like living in Forodwaith, I prefer the comfort of our world, to which I can try and bring some Middle-earth mentality.

– A steward’s son or a son as steward?
A steward’s son, of course.

– Arwen as hope or Arwen as reward?
Arwen as hope – I don’t buy the “trophy wife” concept.

– The addition of chocolate into Middle-earth or the addition of lembas into our world?
I often feel that I could do with lembas, especially at work…

– Which pairing do you prefer: Arwen/Aragorn; Éowyn/Aragorn; Éowyn/Arwen, Aragorn/Boromir or Boromir/Figwit?
Well, all are kind of cute, but knowing Figgy’s obsession, I choose Boromir/Figwit…

3. You wake up with a gentle wind on your face and birds singing in the trees. The sun is rising over a nearby wood. Where are you?
Either I’ve been transported to the Shire, or have fallen asleep on my back porch.

4. You wake up with something seemingly like a tornado whirling around you. No birds are singing, in trees or otherwise. The sun is in the sky, but often hidden by flying debris, trees, cows etc. Where are you?
Probably on the set of a remake of “The Wizard of Oz”.

5. Which would you rather do and why? File Gríma’s toenails, brush Lurtz’s teeth or wash Gollum’s loincloth?
Gríma’s nails would need a professional pedicurist, and orcs have a horrible morning breath (as well as day and evening breath) so, I guess I’d choose washing Gollum’s loincloth – at least, it could be thrown into the washing machine with some other items that tolerate hot water.

6. How well do you think you would do if you were dropped suddenly into Minas Tirith? Or Edoras? Or Barad-dûr?
Minas Tirith is a city, with everything close at hand so, as soon as I would get used to the lack of some modern comfort, I might do quite decently. The same goes most probably for Edoras. As for Barad-dûr – well, I’d take over the command of that place, of course!

7. Do Siamese cats truly come from Mordor?
No – just cat haters do…

8. What 5 things would you take to Middle-earth with you and why?
1) An English-Westron-English dictionary – I want to be able to communicate with the majority of people, and to hire a hunky Ranger as my guide.
2) A notebook or sketch block and a pencil – they would last much longer than the battery of my laptop.
3) A warm sleeping bag, in case I’d have to sleep outdoors.
4) A digital camera.
5) Chocolate, perhaps?

9. Which is your favourite season, and where in Middle-earth would you like to spend it?
Late summer in Rivendell.

10. Give us 5 words that explain your love of Tolkien and his works.
Imagination, depth, storytelling, entertainment, Tolkien websites… Well, that was already 6 words, to be exact.

11. Which characters would you be in the following books: Winnie the Pooh, Lost, Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter?
Pooh in Winnie the Pooh, and either Molly Weasley or Professor McGonagall in Harry Potter. Lost – is there a book too? The show just started over here, and after what little I’ve seen, I might be the young man, I’ve forgotten his name, whose sister is continuously bickering with him. I haven’t read any of the Narnia books or seen the film so, I can’t say anything for it.

12. And on to our favourite website … Which forums have you never posted in on CoE? Which forum do you post in most?
I’ve never posted in Elvish 101, Collectibles, and RP. I mostly hang around in Books, The Prancing Pony, and the Realm of Vairë.

13. Which completely unnecessary section does CoE really need?
The Humor section. There are all too many sites where Tolkien fandom is taken so deadly seriously!

14. And that’s that! Thank you for your time and your thoughts! One further question – do you have anything to ask the Wizards?
Do you have any advice for dealing with teenage Balrogs?
