Significance: Is betrothed to Aragorn, and forms as a silent backbone in his quest to become King. Sends him a standard with the white tree-emblem, and gives up her immortality to be with Aragorn. She also gives her place on the ship to Valinor to Frodo.

– Not all Elves can give up their immortality: Arwen has this choice because she is Half-elven, like her father Elrond and her brothers.
– Arwen and Aragorn believe that, after their respective deaths, they will be reunited ‘outside the confines of this world’.
– Frodo is not in love with Arwen.
– Arwen has a pendant, but it’s not like the movie one, that contains her immortality. It’s merely a pendant. She offers it to Frodo for support.
