Riddles in the Dark: the answer to November’s riddle

The November issue of the Council Courier has featured the following riddle:

The tongue is more to be feared than the sword.

The answer is: Saruman. Explanation: Saruman fits this proverb the best out of the choices of he and Wormtongue. Nothing that Gríma said really touched anyone other than Théoden and maybe Éowyn, but he was really acting as an agent of Saruman anyway, so all roads still lead to the traitorous Wizard.

Gandalf specifically says in TTT, the book, when they head to the tower of Orthanc:

“But there is no knowing what he can do, or may choose to try. A wild beast cornered is not safe to approach. And Saruman has powers you do not guess. Beware of his voice!”.
