How did you find CoE?
Word-of-mouth, I think…I was hoping to learn some Elvish and ended up here, although I stayed at first for the Book discussions.
What are your duties here at CoE?
A hodgepodge of things to do with the Languages section, but mainly moderating the Elvish101 forum and marking submitted exercises in the Sindarin Workbook. I also dabble in translating names into Sindarin for the Elvish Names Database.
What are you favorite areas of the site?
The forums, most definitely, because of the many interesting people and discussions, the gallery, for the pretty pictures, and the Last Homely House also, because I wish I could make such pretty things. Of course, there’s the Languages section too – I enjoy helping people out.
How often do you visit CoE?
Too much for my own good – if it’s any more than once a day (which is often), it’s usually because I’m procrastinating in some way.
How many times have you read the books?
LOTR… perhaps two and a half times? I’ve read The Silmarillion four times though (because I love it and it’s a shorter read). UT, once, and I haven’t read any HOME book in full, except for The Lost Road (multiple times).
Who is your favorite LotR character?
Faramir! I’m bad at articulating my reasons, but I suppose I admire his nobility and his loyalty. On a different tack, there’s also Pippin, a fun-loving, humorous type who nevertheless grows up very quickly.
Do you have a favorite scene from the Trilogy? My absolute Perhaps there are other scenes that outshine this one, but I’ll never forget the scene of the Fellowship approaching the Argonath – it was then that I truly had the feeling of being immersed in a completely different world.
What character left out of the films do you miss most?
Well, off the top of my head, none really, but that might because I’m easy to please.
Do you know any Sindarin or Quenya?
Why yes, indeed I do. Studying Sindarin has been a long-time hobby of mine (so I’d venture to say I know quite a bit of Sindarin), whereas Quenya is more of a challenge for me.
What did you enjoy most about the ROTK EE?
I haven’t actually seen it, though I’d love to someday! However, I’d like to see the Houses of Healing scenes.
