How did you find CoE?
My brother was looking for pics, and we found the gallery. We both wanted to join, so we joined under the name of ‘Figwit’ – which was the only thing we could come up with that we both liked. Hence, I’m stuck with it. My brother later joined as Lord_of_Minas_Morgul, btw.
What are your duties here at CoE?
I annoy people, mostly, most definitely atalante_star and that poor dear Elenisil. I also come up with blatantly stupid ideas that everyone feels obliged to act enthusiastic about – on a very ‘I’ll-just-humour-her’ level, too. Like that time when Rivka suggested we’d list all the changes from book to movie in one nice long article; and after a brainstorm with Gilraen and Parmadur it ended up becoming ‘The Books vs. Movies Section’….Sheesh.
According to atalante_star, I’m also being scary to poor unsuspecting newbies; though I have no clue as to how that is possible, given the fact I am kindness and patience incarnate.
Also, I defend Boromir. Yes, that’s what I do when I’m not being scary actually, I write very long posts about how cool and brave Boromir is; and how Arwen is soooo much better than Éowyn…She is, too.
What are you favorite areas of the site?
Well, obviously, the gallery; the Movies Forum; the Book Club (yeah, that’s a job requirement) and – since recently – the Realm of Nienna Forum.
How often do you visit CoE?
Everyday. My job as the site pest requires this.
How many times have you read the books?
Lost track. Let’s just say: an unhealthy number of times.
Who is your favorite LoTR character?
Three guesses. Come on, three guesses….
Do you have a favorite scene from the Trilogy?
This is very difficult…I’d say either Boromir’s death scene (the whole sequence, from the moment he runs up to Merry and Pippin to the moment he’s laid in the boat) or the charge of the Rohirrim at Pelennor Fields…Very difficult.
What character left out of the films do you miss most?
Farmer Maggot.
Also, Túrin Turambar. Yes, I know he’s in ‘The Silmarillion’; but he could have been played by Trent Reznor, who is not only a very talented musician and an amazing songwriter, but an awful poet (every line rhymes) ánd an amazingly gorgeous man. What, off-topic? What?!
Do you know any Sindarin or Quenya?
Heavens no! I’m still trying to figure out which one is Fingon and which one is Fingolfin!
What did you enjoy most about the ROTK EE?
More Éomer. That was a great enhancement. Great, great, droolworthy enhancement.
No, really.
Éomer rocks.
If I could change my name, I’d change it to trent_reznor_is_God; but otherwise I’d pick Éomersgurl666babe.
No, all kidding aside, I loved the ROTK EE. There were so many small scenes that were restored to the movie, but added to the depth of the story (Pippin’s talk with Faramir, Merry’s talk with Aragorn, Éomer finding Éowyn on the battlefield…); not to mention the return of Saruman, the amazing Christopher Lee restored in all his glory…
Figwit’s Own Question to Figwit: Is a mod just a mod all on his/her own?
No, of course not! So, I’d like to thank the following people for modding with me, and working with me on this site in various shapes and forms:
– for the Book Club: atalante_star, PotbellyHairyfoot, k, Nienna-of-the-Valar, Trignifty
– for the Books vs. Movies section: atalante_star, Gilraen, Parmadur, Rosearialelven, AinarielPalantir, RubySandybanks and all the other writers who poured their talent, creativity and love for books and movies into their articles
– for tolerance, support and everything else: Elenisil, Aowyn, the wonderfully divine Rivka, Nenyia, the Pink Wizard, Trent – and all my colleague-modders and admins.
I’m very proud to be part of such a wonderful team of creative, respectful and enthusiastic people who devote so much of their time and energy to the creation of not just one of the best Tolkien resource and archive sites on the net, but also of a home to so many people from all over the world.
