  1. YaY! I get first comment1 *does a happy dance* I would be worried about that too. I wouldn’t want people to just remember me as Frodo, I would want to be remembered as other characters too from totally different movies…

  2. I think he will be remembered for a lot of acting. Kevin in Sin City was such a varied charachter, Ice Storm, Ash Wednesday, Deep Impact and more then I can remember. He does good in all of his roles, he is growing and the changes he is making will only serve to help him become a better actor thus allowing him to get better parts, better parts will be offered to him. But Frodo will always be his “big break” role. Guess that was a real long winded way of saying yep, always and forever he will be Frodo. LOL!

  3. I have to admit I’ll probably remember him the best as Frodo, but I love his acting in other movies such as Ash Wenesday. It shows how versatile an actor he is.

  4. Heh. Poor guy. I don’t really refer to him as “Frodo”, but rather call him “Mr. Woods” or just “Elijah” by name. Sure, he’ll always be known as the famous hero from Lord of the Rings, but it’s more fun to be treated as a normal person than as an actor. 😉 It’s kinda funny though; I can just conjure up a mental picture of somebody yelling, “Hey, Frodo!”, at him in the street. lol

  5. Would he prefer we all call him “North” and ask after his filthy bunny friend?

…because I can do that. By the time I’m finished, he’ll be on his knees screaming, “I’m Frodo! I’m Frodo!”

  6. Why is it a bad thing to be remembered as Frodo? He’s such a good character in LotR, it doesn’t really matter to me if he’s ever been in anything else.

  7. I hope that someday he is comfortable with being remembered as Frodo and can really find joy in that special part he played in Tolkien’s “history.” Elijah is so young and has such a bright future, but it’s probably true that many people will always associate him with his role as Frodo. I suspect that someday, he will truly appreciate it.

  8. no matter what, he will always be frodo. even if he does another big movie. since lotr was the first biggest movie he was in then he will always be frodo. 🙂
if i saw him on the street, i would probably call him frodo too.

  9. you guys dont seem to relize what a problem this could be for his future in acting. Many times this happens to actors, whe they are in a film like LOTRs that is hpw they are remembered. For example in Star Wars there was an actor and he was never able to act in many other films because if he was veiwers would say “hey, obi wouldnt do that”! so he really does have a reason to be worried!

  10. Arg! I hate that this is happening to him. Elijah is so talented that he doesn’t deserve this. He will NOT be the Mark Hamill of our generation!

  11. That is such a problem with movies- there seems to be a tendency to typecast actors. I am glad this guy is doing everything he can to buck the trend. I actually saw this on-line yesterday from a movie review website that tends to give a very open minded view to non traditional movies. They support Elijah’s alternative movie career (Even though they do refer to Frodo in the title as a joke). Don’t know if the link works but you can get it from Cinemablend.com (once known as Filmhobbit)

  12. Elijah Wood is still a young man. In 10 or 15 years, when his looks have changed a bit, audiences will watch him without identifying him as Frodo. He just has to hang in there and keep working on his art.
