How did you find CoE?
I was looking for information on Sindarin, and CoE offered both lessons and a friendly language discussion forum. I think I visited for about a month before I became a member.
What are your duties here at CoE?
My most ‘visible’ duty is moderating the Quenya forum, but the task that requires the most time is correcting exercise answers in the Quenya Workbook. I also check any content submitted by members to the Quenya section.
What are you favorite areas of the site?
Apart from the languages area, I really like the articles in the Middle-earth section of Elrond’s Library. My current favourite area is the Books vs Movies… when I read a book or watch a movie I tend to ’just’ see a good story, so I really enjoy reading the analyses others make. I am also very fond of the ’Illustrations’ area in the Gallery.
How often do you visit CoE?
Every day, unless I’m traveling. That is mostly because of the workbook exercises though, but I probably come here at least twice a week to visit other areas of the site.
How many times have you read the books?
Between 10 and 15 times, mostly the much criticized Swedish translation, but there’s a new one being done that is closer to the original text. I’ve so far only read the books in English once.
Who is your favorite LoTR character?
Thranduil. I know it’s weird, because there’s so little written about him, but I just like him. Aragorn has always been my book hero.
Do you have a favorite scene from the Trilogy?
I guess you mean the movies? I have many favourites, but I think the opening scenes of FOTR made the biggest impression on me. It felt magical to watch something on screen that I had seen in my head so many times before while reading the books. Another favourite is when Galadriel is leaving from the Gray Havens… simply beautiful.
What character left out of the films do you miss most?
Glorfindel, definitely.
Do you know any Sindarin or Quenya?
Elen síla… no, really, I’m not that good at speaking any of them, but I’ve read most of the information available on these languages and I try to translate things now and then.
What did you enjoy most about the ROTK EE?
That it was extended!
