How did you find CoE?
I found CoE while hunting for LotR e-cards, as I have a friend who’s a major Frodo-fanatic and I wanted a good card for her birthday. Later, when I was as gung-ho crazy as everybody for RotK (and the EE), I remembered CoE for its awesome galleries and began to lurk around constantly.
What are your duties here at CoE?
I’m the Fan Creations Admin, which means I validate fanfiction with Ithillinde’s most awesome and appreciated help, oversee the Creations Corner and the Pick-A-Path section, and mod the Creations Forum with the help of the ever-incredible Goldsand.
What are you favorite areas of the site?
My favorite areas are definitely fanfiction and the galleries. I really enjoy reading the submissions and I love seeing the pictures and *cough cough* butchering them to feed my addiction to making sub-par livejournal icons.
How often do you visit CoE?
I visit CoE extremely compulsively…usually several, several times a day. I work at a library and though I’m not technically supposed to be surfing the Internet while on the clock, I’ve been known to sneak peeks into CoE when I should be doing something silly with books.
How many times have you read the books?
I haven’t read the books terribly much. I’ve probably read some sections six or seven times and others maybe once, but on average I’ve probably read them two or three times.
Who is your favorite LoTR character?
My favorite character will always be the lovely Eowyn. She really speaks to me in a lot of ways, and I identify best with her. If my reality was molded to resemble that of Middle-earth, I would find myself waiting on my own Théoden and dreaming of a time to be in the sunlight.
Do you have a favorite scene from the Trilogy?
I absolutely adore the Houses of Healing. There’s something so simple, yet so complex about that scene. It’s like looking at a seemingly-shallow pool of water and stepping into it, only to find yourself submerged to the hip. It appears to be just two people falling in love (simple and complex in and of itself!) but it’s also two people transforming and realizing that though their identities were formed, they weren’t yet completed. It’s so fascinating to watch it all unfold.
What character left out of the films do you miss most?
I admit it…I miss Tom Bombadil. Not because I think it was a cardinal sin to leave him out or anything, but I would’ve dearly liked to see how PJ envisioned him and how it would’ve fit with everything else.
Do you know any Sindarin or Quenya?
Sadly, I speak no Sindarin or Quenya. They are very beautiful languages, pretty to see and pretty to speak, but I’m really lucky to speak Spanish at the rate I’m going. One day, however, I plan on learning some of it.
What did you enjoy most about the ROTK EE?
I did enjoy the Houses of Healing. I wasn’t completely satisfied with it, but I was satisfied to get something. I also liked seeing Eowyn’s dream and the lovely interaction between her and Aragorn.
