LotR the Third Age is a RPG game for Playstation 2. It takes you on an amazing journey through Middle-earth and has an interesting and unique story. The game begins with Berethor, a Citadel Guard of Gondor who is sent on a mission by the Steward to find Boromir. Along the way he meets up with Idrial of Lothlórien. She saves Berethor from a Nazgul and then they begin their journey from around Rivendell and start heading to Lórien. Idrial wants to warn the Elves of the dangerous roads to the Grey Havens. These two characters eventually meet up with Elegost of the Dunedain, Hadhod (Clan of Fundin), Morwen of Penmark, and Eaoden of the Riddermark. Each character has their own history, traits, and talents. Throughout the game the party follows the Fellowship and fights in battles through a turn-based system. At each Middle-earth location there are quests to be completed, treasures to find, and epic scenes to view. The game uses footage from the recent LotR films with Sir Ian McKellen narrating much of it. For some battles you will have the chance to play as your favorite LotR characters, including Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli. Overall it’s a really good game and gives the player a lot to do. The characters can be customized in many ways with a large selection of weapons, armor, and other items. There’s also a multiplayer mode and even an evil mode where you can play as Sauron and other evil forces. This is truely a great game for any LotR fan.
