  1. This is Heart braking news. It will be very sad if “The Hobbit” isn’t made into a move, or they do make it and Peter Jackson doesn’t the Director. This is sad…..Very sad ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™ :(.!!!!!

  2. The fricken idiots!!!(from napoleon dynamite) GOSH!!! Ok, so they really should make the Hobbit, but I honestly think it would be better if they made it before the LOTR trilogy, cuz it comes before but STILL!!!

  3. I emailed my dad (American Movie critic, who’s in touch with New Line) aabout this and I got this reply from him 5 minutes ago:

“yesterday when I spoke to the new Line rep that Sony made a much
larger counter offer of 5 Billion which MGM has taken. This means that
Peter Jackson can make the Hobbit but it would not be able to distribute
it so no Hobbit any time soon.”

So, we apparently shall see. I hope we get the Hobbit ๐Ÿ™

  4. what will be even worse then no Hobbit at all, is if they totally botch the film by using different actors/actresses and then change the setting we’ve all come to love in LotR. I’ll be soooo mad if they make it like a fairy land

  5. What’s that sounds?? … It sounds like the collective breaking of the hearts of all LotR fans out there.

๐Ÿ™ I think that as long as Peter directs the film and Weta can handle the production, things will be okay. Chin up everyeone!

  6. Don’t give up everyone!! If we keep at it, who knows?? Something may happen! I’m very upset as well, but maybe, just maybe things will get better in the future. As hobbithole_dweller says, chins up!

  7. There is always the possibility that Sony will be willing to work with New Line on it. After all, New Line has the production rights. It’s the North American Distribution Rights that are owned by MGM (now Sony). It made sense for MGM not to sell them before their takeover, as they provided a large incentive for Time Warner (New Line’s owner) to bid high. Now that the deal’s done, it would be wise for Sony to get into talks with New Line and make a deal that’s beneficial to all…INCLUDING LOTR fans!
    One can always hope, anyway…
