Saul Zaentz is the producer of the Bakshi version of LotR… Why he thinks he deserves 20 million pounds from newline after his attempts at the trilogy produced that peice of trash is beyond me.
They should have made something decent the first time around, that way Newline wouldnt have had to redo it again properly.

Will this ruin the plans of the three-in-one LotR DvD? I hope it will not! I really wanted that, and my dad said he would buy me it for my birthday or christmas… *Sobs* that will ruin christmas.
Well, not being a lawyer, I won’t comment on the lawsuit, because for all I know he has a legitimate claim to the money…but it sure looks like this guy doesn’t get along with a whole heck of a lot of people.

The public’s not going to buy that just because he produced some cartoon, means he should be entitled to so much money. And I may be wrong, but the royalties are going to Tokien Enterprises which I may say still exists. Which weird lunatic want’s this guy to prevail when an entire tradmark has already got its foot in the doorway??? Hmm…
Ok, he waits until Lord of the Rings triliogy is over and made lots of money and won many awards to come out with this, or did he forget and somewhere along the way realize that New Line Cenima owed him 20 million dollars? Ticks me off!!!

My quesion is, where was Saul Zaentz when it was announced that Peter Jackson had acquired the rights to make the movies from Tolkien Enterprises. I heard about it when it happened, so I am relatively sure that Zaentz would have heard about it. I am also pretty sure if he owned the exclusive rights to LOTR, that someone there would have informed PJ that he needed to speak to Zaentz. It’s not like anyone else has owned the rights to it since Professor Tolkien died. As far as i know , Tolkien Enterprises and the Tolkien Estate own the rights, except thjopse which they transferred to PJ.
Zaentz won’t get far with the lawsuit I don’t think.
