Having attended the matinee performance on Saturday 19th at the Sydney Operea House I am disaapointed in this review! Howard Shore’s symthony is NOT too long – in fact I would have liked to have heard MORE!! This talented and very modest man stood to one side and made sure each soloist singer or musician was given their moment in the spotlight – but the audience gave Mr Shore a standing ovation which he rightly deserved. If you have the chance to attend this concert I strongly urge you to do so!!
I am extremely disappointed with this review! I was also there on the 19th and it was one of the most amazing things i had ever witnessed!!!!! It has made me fall in love with the movies all over again! I also wish it had kept going and never stopped! It was the most moving and amazing things i think i’ve ever seen! This reviewer obviously doesnt know much, if anything! I also have to agree that Australia is very bad when it comes to understanding cults or epics such as this one! “Not happy Jan!”
I’m not a professional musician. Nor did I see the Sydney show ( but saw it in Atlanta, Georgia), and I must disagree with this reviewer. I did not find it “wandering aimsley”. It was a thoroughly enjoyable show! My husband and son, while not LotR fans completely enjoyed the concert. And when you can keep the attention of an 11 year old boy with no interest in the symphony listening and engaged, then it must be a good show!

I totally agree with you guys!
Maybe we should change the saying “Those who can’t do, teach” to “Those who can’t do, review”;)
