At first I thought, wow, it would be great to see Elijah in the film, but then I agree with what he said in the interview. He’s known as Frodo so it would be very confusing if he was cast as Bilbo. And since Ian Holm played Bilbo in LotR, it would make sense for him to play Bilbo again in the Hobbit 🙂

Other than Ian Holm, Ian McKellen, and Andy Serkis, I don’t think anyone from LotR should be in The Hobbit, unless it’s a short cameo of Legolas going to Erebor with the other Mirkwood Elves.
I am pleased to see that Elijah respects the both the movies and the fans. He did a spectacular performance as Frodo and it would seem confusing to have him portray not only another character but earlier in the time line of the Shire and the time frame associated with all of Middle Earth.
It is good to see that the actors appreciate not only the other performances of fellow actors, but they respect the original work for what it is and stay true to Tolkien’s vision.

I think that Ian Holm should defenetly play Bilbo. I find it really annoying when they use two different actors for the same part.
