I was supprise also that ROTK wasn’t up for Best Cinematography. I never thought that 11 wins may be the Oscars limit.
Could anyone tell me what the little blue pin, some of the men were wearing on their jackes, was?
If RotK had been nominated for and recieved Best Cinematography, I would have been happy. It deserved it. But those who think it got plenty would have made a huge stink over it, and I don’t want to listen to my roommate’s complaints about how boring the Oscars were any more than I have to already.
Seriously, I think that they didn’t nominate it for anything else, because they don’t want Titanic to be beaten…plus there’s the whole thing about the Academy being prejudiced against fantasy movies.
You know, during the Academy Awards I almost felt like I didn’t want ROTK to win ANY awards- not because it didn’t deserve them, but because I didn’t want Hollywood trying to take credit for the movie. Once it wins Best Picture, its almost like part of the credit for its greatness goes to Hollywood, which is total ballogni (sp?). Does that make sense?
I DO think it should have gotten at the very least 12 Oscars though!
You know, a part of me also wanted that RotK didn’t win any, but it was more because I think that the Academy now has an excuse for not awarding FotR and TTT more Oscars, but still I was crying when I heard how many Oscars it won, it was too good to be true.
Although, I agree, it should at least also have been nominated and won Best Cinematogrophy, and there should have been a special Oscar for Gollum (or perhaps best actor) and an Oscar for best Ensamble Cast -I have difficulties saying who were did the most outstanding perfomance of all the cast….. But they definently deserved an Oscar for it!!!!!!!
i totally agree that they should have been nominated 4 cinematography (andrew lesnie did a great job!) …i just think they just wanted to keep the american movie ahem *TITANIC* at the top…
I think that if we are basing our opinions on all three movies, then yes, they should have won best cinematography. However, if we are only looking at ROTK, then no. I think that TTT by far surpassed ROTK. It built up a lot of suspense that ROTK didn’t really live up to.

well, it won best cinematography even if the oscars won’t acknowledge it. and then there’s still the acting nominations it was snubbed.

Well, Titanic’s not at the top anymore. It did lose some of the awards it was nominated for. ROTK got 100%.
I do think ROTK should have won Best Cinematography as well as some recognition for the actors.
But I have heard (Entertainment Weekly) that ROTK’s 11/11 which is the best perfect record ever.
So, even though it shares the most Oscars won, it holds the highest perfect score on its own.

The cinematography was great, and Titanic sinked.
