The party starts at 4.00pm (PST) on February 29th and attire should be fit for no less than the royal court of Gondor (formal evening wear or high quality costumes). Dainties for partygoers include an elegant dinner buffet (with wine and soft drinks), door prizes, giveaways, viewing of the televised Oscar Ceremony, a cash bar, a sales room, silent auctions and much more!!
Among the wonderful musicians providing the evening’s rhythms are The Brobdingnagian Bards who perform a mix of Irish drinking songs, Scottish folk songs, filk and instrumental fantasy music as well as Avalon Rising with their beautiful blend of original rock and traditional Celtic and Medieval music. Singer/songwriter Kevin Henry will also be there with his unique mix of acoustic guitar and harmonica adding magic of its own!
There will also be the exclusive preview of “Tall Towers, Brave Kings, Wise Wizards, and Precious Rings: A Celebration of Fantasy Art.” This show will feature the art of renowned Tolkien artist Tim Kirk and Tolkien and Fantasy artist Colleen Doran and author George Beahm, with his newly published book The Essential J.R.R.Tolkien Sourcebook! Tim, Colleen and George will be on-hand to meet and greet fans and to autograph art prints and copies of The Essential J.R.R. Tolkien Sourcebook!
You can also join us on Saturday evening and experience the golden warmth of Rivendell at the Hollywood Athletic Club! The doors to the “Hall of Fire” will be thrown wide open, inviting one and all to enter and take part in an evening of “High Elven merrymaking, celebrating music, story, poetry and art”.
Attending guests will be provided with light refreshments – a perfect accompaniment to poetry and story or music and song. There will also be a special opportunity for you to display your Middle Earth finery in the Masquerade and Costume contest! The Rivendell Hall of Fire is open to everyone 16 years of age and over. Tickets are $20 and can be ordered in advance from the Into the West website, or purchased at the door on the night of the event.

“Into the West – An Oscar Party for Tolkien Fans” is an international grassroots effort of Lord of the Rings fans from many different sites, including The Official Fan Club, Ringbearer.Org, LOTR Fanatics, War of the Ring, Council of Elrond, Tolkien Online, The LOTR Fanclub Scrapbook, and Tolkien Forever.
