Into the West: A Hollywood Oscars Party for Tolkien Fans
“I will not say the day is done, nor bid the ‘Stars’ farewell!”
Thanks to the grassroots efforts of LOTR fans from many different sites, including The Official Fan Club, Ringbearer.Org, LOTR Fanatics, War of the Ring, Council of Elrond, the LOTR Fanclub Scrapbook, Bucklebury.net and Tolkien Forever, we are proud and excited to announce an Oscars party on Sunday Feb 29th 2004 in Hollywood California, at the beautiful Hollywood Athletic Club.
Just blocks from the Oscars site, this venue is a gem used by theonering.net in subsequent years. It seemed appropriate to celebrate the final Oscars season there! There will be a cash bar, and free drinks, as well as a possible buffet. Details are still forthcoming, and an official party site will be announced soon!
This party is not in competition with TheOneRings’ party, it is simply an effort to provide an elegant evening in Hollywood for everyone!
Guidelines and Attire:
Formal attire or high quality costumes will be required.

We will have a ‘Hall of Fire’ night at the same location on Saturday evening. It will be a casual/costume event filled with food, poetry, and song!
We are still looking for a few volunteers, you do not have to live in the LA area, but if you do it would be a real plus. “Site affiliation” doesn’t matter. We all love LOTR!
We Need:
– Local Transportation
– Someone willing to take professional level digital photographs of the event.
– Decorations, if anyone has LOTR things that they can bring to LA with them and (or ship) back with them.
– Encouragement and support – this is by and for the fans. If you can’t volunteer, be supportive of the ones who have professional event experience or advice.
– Sponsors! If you know of any business that would like to contribute to gift bags, prizes, or raffle items to advertise their wares, please let us know!

What this is Not:
This is NOT TheOneRing’s party! This is a separate party being organized by fans who would like to be a part of the excitement of Return of the King’s chance at some Oscars and to spend time with other fans of like mind.
There will most likely be no celebrity appearances. There is no guarantee of any kind of “goodie bag” or freebies, nor will we have the media coverage or the decorations from Weta. The folks you will see working will be volunteers.
What it IS:
A classy evening full of good fun, and a great set of memories for those who can attend.
