  1. Hahaha. I am hobbithole_dweller, quicktime impaired. Fear my wrath!

Thanks to all the CoE members who find all the non-quicktime media so the rest of us can listen/see it. *bows low*

  2. Does anyone know where I can get a cpy of the lyrics? Or know themselves what the lyrics are?

I would just like to know what Annie is singing in the parts I”ve left blank. Thanks!!

“What can you see on the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
    Across the sea ____________
The ships have come to carry you home
And all will turn to ________”

  4. These are the full lyrics:

    Lay down
    Your sweet and weary head
    Night is falling
You have come to journey’s end

    Sleep now
Dream — of the ones who came before
    They are calling
    From across a distant shore

    Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
    Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away

    Safe in my arms
    You’re only sleeping

    (Chorus)

    What can you see
    On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?

    Across the Sea
    A pale moon rises
    The ships have come
    To carry you home

    (Verse)

And all will turn to silver glass
    A light on the water
    All souls pass

    Hope fades
    Into the world of night
    Through shadows falling
    Out of memory and time

    Don’t say
We have come now to the end
    White shores are calling
You and I will meet again

And you’ll be here in my arms
    Just sleeping

    (Chorus)

And all will turn to silver glass
    A light on the water
    Grey ships pass
    Into the West

  5. Honestly, one night i sat there in front of my TV and listened to that song 32 times in a row and cried each time. So i was crying for along time. That song is so beautiful. Just thinking about it gets me teary eyed. I have memorized most of the song. *sniff*

  6. OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys have no idea how much I love this song!
It breaks my heart everytime I hear it. Almost any thing Lord of the Rings related breaks my heat.

  7. I learned the words on my own, it took me a loooong time to get the part where she says:
    What can you see?

    “On the horizon?
Why do those white gulls call?
    Across the sea,
    a pale moon rises,
the ships have come to carry you home.”

But all in all, I love the song too, but it’s not my favorite song, anymore, he he.
    Well, talk to ya lata.
    ~Princess Larylyn of Gondor.

  8. Oops, I didn’t mean to italics the WHOLE rest of the entry, but here’s the part it took me a long time to learn:

“Why do those white gulls call?
Across the sea, a pale moon rises,
the ships have come to carry you home.”

And yes, I agree that Annie Lennox has a BEATIFUL voice, but then, so do I, he he.
NO REALLY, I DO. I’M A SOPRANO, AND THAT KIND OF SINGING IS VERY RARE.

  9. yeah, it’s a beautiful song. i love watching the credits on ROTK and listening to this song… usually singing to it…he he…. but you know what makes me cry? there’s a part in the apendecis of the book ROTK called a part of the tale of aragorn and arwen. aragorn takes THREE PAGES TO DIE!!!!!! i cry every time i read that, i really do.

  10. The song is so beautiful. If anyone asks what my song is, I would tell them Into The West. I personally think it represents the Elves’ story.
