  1. I’m sure I read a little while ago that Ian McKellen was pushing for a TV series for it. Of course, he’d be Gandalf! Personally I think a big TV series would suit The Hobbit more than a film because it’s packaged in little sections to a larger extent than LotR.

  2. I would LOVE to see the Hobbit as a movie, or even a TV series or something, especially if any of hte LoTR actors are in it, but i doubt i’d really want to see it unless PJ directed. Not that i don’t like the other directors, it’s just that we know the PJ will be as true to the story as possible. He has a huge respect for Tolkein and his works and I doubt he would do any injustice to the Hobbit.

  3. I know people will probably get mad at me for saying this, but I’d rather not have it a movie. I love the Hobbit as the book, because it has a special magic that I love, especially the part with Gollum, that I wouldn’t want ruined with a movie. I prefer to imagine the setting than see it on screen. I hope they do not make it a movie, and I don’t think it would be as good of a movie as LotR anyway, because of the lack of truly ‘magical’ setting such as Lothlorien. And Rivendell in the book is much more fun than the movie Rivendell.

  4. New Line is already making a movie of “The Hobbit” I Found the trailer, and Peter Jackson is directing, Ian Holm is Bilbo, Ian McKellen is Gandalf, and Andy Serkis is Gollum. It comes out on December 19 2006. Can’t wait!!!

  5. Were did you find it??? You should post the sight on the news page here! I’m sure alot of people would love to see it. I would love for PJ to direct the Hobbit. He did a very good job overall. ( though I did not like the fact that he killed Haldir)They need to use the same actors though. Otherwise it wouldn’t flow right with LOTR.One of the things I really really want them to do is put Orlando Bloom as Legolas in Mirkwood somewhere. You know to show that that is where he’s from and that he is a prince and all. All he has to do is stand by his father in the throne room and I will be happy. (Yes I am a major Legolas fan)

  6. I really hope they do something more like a TV series with it… even though I don’t get any TV stations in my area.

Honestly though I don’t know why anyone would allow George Lucas to direct anything anymore… obviously money and fame have made him indulgent. I think Ang Lee would be a better second choice.

And as for the Animated version…. I liked it…. until I read the book, then I hated it… Of course all of the above is my personal opinion, and not ment to annoy harm or hurt anyone.

    Good day to you all

  7. I just wanted to reply to the comments about the Hobbit movie already being made. Just so you all know, it’s sadly not true. The trailer is great, but its a fake one directed by Steve Latham, and it contains various scenes from LOTR, Willow, Dragonslayer, etc… I got excited too when I first saw it, but I was a bit suspicious so I looked a little closer and saw that it was a fake. Sorry to anyone who got excited. Anyways, If you still want to see the trailer, I’m pretty sure there’s a link to it at http://www.der-kleine-hobbit-film.de/

  8. I would have signed the petition, but I didn’t when I saw that it said either Lucas or Spielberg or P.J. It just wouldn’t be the same without P.J.

I thought the cartoon was really boring, especially when I first saw it before I became a LOTR freak.

  9. Oh definitely!! I would really love to see Mirkwood and Smaug and Elrond in a cheerful mood. The only thing is I might worry about what they would do for Bilbo.

Anyway, I don’t know how people could vote anyone but PJ as the director! We don’t even know if GL or SS LIKE Tolkein’s work! The thing that made Peter Jackson so perfect was that he was entirely dedicated to potraying the story the way it was meant to be and if that meant reading the book a million times he would do it!

I don’t see how anyone else could possibly do it better ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. theres only one out of every 7 or 8 who dont say PJ should do it and they probably dont even know who he is! Either that or their messed! ๐Ÿ™‚ jk

  11. I think THE HOBBIT would make a great movie or TV Special, but if it wouldn’t be done by Peter Jackson, I’d oppose it. He’s kept the spirit of the books throughout the movies. He should be kept!!!!!

  12. I would love for the Hobbit to become a movie, and the only way that I would oppose it would be if PJ didn’t direct it!! I am rereading The Hobbit again for the milionth time and I would love to have the story flimed, it would be great!! And I would love to see more of Gollum! ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. i would love to see The Hobbit become a movie. it might be difficult because it would seem to be directed towards the male population (no love story or female characters) but im sure Peter Jackson could come up with something about that. also, Ian Holmes might be a somewhat older hobbit, so another casting might be in order… also, it would be very cool if there was some more transition between The Hobbit and lotr at the end of the movie. thanks!

  14. I am very curious… Why does no love story or female characters make it directed to a male audience? In my estimation a good story is all you need, the gender of the characters doesn’t matter… And the parts I hate the most in TTT are the sappy romance stuff, there is a reason all that is in the appendices… not in the main book. It has nothing to do with the story.

Honestly I’m not trying to pick on anyone, I am just curious. The majority in the film and even book industry seem to have this opinion, which I find flawed.

    Good day and be well,
