  1. I liked this article. I enjoy my little fantasies about the various men/hobbits/elves of LotR, but when it comes down to it, the real man in my life is far more important to me. No, he hasn’t taken the One Ring to Mt. Doom anytime recently, or lead a charge at the Battle of the Pellenor Fields, but in many ways, he’s just as much a hero to me as the characters of the books, for all the little things that he does every day to make me happy and to help make the world a better place. That’s the point of this article — to point out that “real” men are just as good as the fantasy ones, even if they don’t get the chance to make grand sweeping gestures or save the world.

Don’t let this article make you feel disillusioned or upset about your fantasies — having a rich fantasy life is important to almost everyone, I would think. It’s important to realize, though, that it is just fantasy — and that sometimes real life is just as good as the fantasy, and sometimes even better.

  2. Maybe the woman who wrote this article should hang out at a big SCA event…meet some men with long hair who are archery & sword experts, whose hobbies are baking medieval style bread and calligraphy, and always call you “m’lady” and bow. Heh heh heh. Of course, they all spend so much time perfecting their costumes…but then again, if you also are spending too much time on costuming…

  3. Good Day to you all,

Are all female reporters this dogmatic? I, for one, am not lying when I say I have not once imagined myself as Arwen, or as the movie style Aragorn’s love…. sorry, but 😛

And as it comes to Legolas, he is far too elvish niether being percieved by me as male or female, as should be.

And no mention of Gandalf, or Saruman? Am I the only Wizard fancier here?

    oh well,

    Good Day and be well,

    Tasar Took Nualda
