Two Towers launches to be staggered worldwide

New Line, who financed director Peter Jackson’s treatment of Tolkien’s trilogy filem in New Zealand, will stage a series of international premieres 12 months after the first part The Fellowship of the Ring opened and achieved international earnings of $A1.54 billion. The film was nominated for 13 Oscars and won four.
New York will host the first screening on December 5, followed by Paris on December 10 and London, December 11. Los Angeles is set for a December 15 premiere and on the same date the film will be launched in Copenhagen.
Wellington, unofficial capital of Middle-earth, will throw an afternoon party before the December 18 premiere being attended by Jackson and Elijah Wood, who plays Frodo Baggins.
Sydney’s even at Fox Studios will complete the global party and is timed to allow people connected with the film, such as producer Barry Osborn (who lives in New Zealand) to travel to the screenings.
