In Empire magazine’s April 2002 issue Billy Boyd (Pippin) reveals that Treebeard will be a mixture of CG and Animatronics. He reported that supposedly this is the largest animatronic ever at 30 foot tall. He said it was so big that he and Dominic Monaghan (Merry) were unable to come down for their “tea breaks”, cups and biscuits had to be passed up to them!

Well, the voice of Treebeard is John Rhys-Davis, he who plays Gimli (big surprise, eh?) in the movies, and he does that pretty good.
