Peter Jackson was also up for the award, as well as Ridley Scott for Black Hawk Down. The DGA Awards haven’t always indicated the Oscar directing award in recent years–Ang Lee, for example, won for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, while the Oscar went to Steven Soderbergh for Traffic. So there may be hope for PJ yet!
And don’t forget–the Screen Actors Guild Awards are tonight. Ian McKellen is up for Best Supporting Actor, and the entire cast is up for Best Cast Performance. Keep your fingers crossed!
